Girls Slumber Party Games
I was planning to invite my close friends for a slumber party, last week. But mum said, "No". I was very disappointed. For the whole of last week, I kept thinking about why my elder sister is allowed to enjoy sleepovers and I am not. I thought I needed to grow up to my sister's age to be able to enjoy girls' slumber parties. But yesterday, I found I was wrong...'coz my mum announced having organized a slumber party for my friends. I am so thrilled about the very idea of a sleepover. I have already started planning some exciting slumber party games. I can't wait for the weekend! - Anne, a young teen.

Slumber parties are about getting together some close friends for a fun-filled night out. They are about pillow fights, building forts out of pillows and blankets, watching movies and relishing pizzas and candies. Girls' slumber parties often include spa nights, makeover activities and most importantly gossiping about...well, everything in the world! Mostly, these sleepovers are coupled with some exciting slumber party games, making the night out, an enjoyable experience. Here are some of them. Take a look.

Pass It On: This games is a slight variation of an old game known as 'passing the parcel'. Have your guests sit in a circle and then put on some soft music. Ask the participants to keep passing the soft toy along the circle, till the music stops. Stop the music at any random time. The one who was holding the soft toy at the moment the music stopped, is the defaulter. Announce a punishment for her. You can vary this game by using a pillow as a parcel. You can even tag the soft toy or the pillow with chits that have punishments written on them. Playing this game in the dark, makes it even more exciting. Yes, switch off the lights in your room and let the music begin!

Mimic in Sleep: Well, this game needs some acting skills. Write names of cartoons or story characters or famous actors on chits. Now pick one chit and announce the name of the person or character written on it. Ask your guests to pretend to be sleeping before you announce the name. Each of the participants has to mimic the character you have announced, with her eyes closed. (Remember, they are sleeping or at least pretending to be asleep.) You can also ask one of your guests to judge the participants' performances and choose the best actor - the 'mimic of the night'!

We Need Some Light: This game is played in the dark. You need to plan some challenging activities, which are difficult to carry out in the dark. Organize activities like pouring lemonade from one bottle to another without spilling, or cutting a loaf of bread into equal slices, or guessing the flavor of candy by smelling it. Well, such activities can make your room messy. So, be prepared to clean it up before your mum finds out! Divide the guests into teams of 2-3, depending on their total number and ask each of the teams to carry out these activities in a stipulated amount of time. Remember, every activity has to be carried out in complete darkness. Make a rule to allow each team to use light only once. Or score each activity out of say 100, where the team that uses light for any particular activity loses 50 points.

Who is Who: This game also needs to be played in the dark. So, switch off all the lights in your room and assign one of your guests, the role of guessing who's who! You can ask the 'guesser' to leave the room for a while, till the rest of you decide your roles. Decide what each of you is going to say. Ask the 'guesser' to come in and start chanting what you had planned to. The guesser needs to make out, who is saying what. She earns a point for every correct guess.

Other Slumber Party Games: Depending on the number of participants, you can arrange to play video games, cards or popular board games like Nintendo and Xbox 30. You can organize a scavenger hunt in the dark or play hide and seek. 'Truth or Dare', 'Chinese Whispers' and 'Two Truths and a Lie' are some of the other interesting sleepover games. Watching scary movies and online videos can be exciting slumber party activities for some of you, while others may enjoy watching personal videos with close friends, cherishing some beautiful moments spent together. Add a fun element to your slumber party by trying out some sleepover pranks.

These were some of the interesting things to do at a slumber party. Use your creativity to come up with more of such exciting sleepover activities and get ready for a gala time. Aren't you organizing a slumber party this weekend? I am sure, you are!
